Application for diplomatic visa

About applying for diplomatic visa

If you hold a diplomatic passport and enjoys immunities and privileges in terms of the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, you must apply for a diplomatic visa.

You will be required to submit your visa when reporting to an immigration officer for an examination at a South African port of entry.

What you should do

  • Go to South African Foreign Offices.
  • Complete form BI-84.
  • Bring  the following:
    • valid passport 
    • identity document
    • statement and/or documentation confirming the purpose and duration of the visit
    • yellow fever vaccination certificate, if required
    • a letter of recommendation from the mission, government.

Note: The immigration act requires you to enter South Africa on a temporary residence permit commensurate with the intended activity to be taken in the country.
