Compulsory medical examination, hospitalisation or treatment for people with communicable diseases/infections 


Description

Any person whom in the opinion of a medical officer (doctor), is or could be suffering from a communicable disease must undergo a compulsory medical examination, hospitalisation or treatment at a place determined by the medical officer.

Steps to follow

  • Your medical officer will refer you for treatment, hospitalisation or further examination.
  • The medical officer will examine you.
  • Treatment may be prescribed at this stage.
  • You will be admitted to a hospital or other place of isolation determined by the medical officer in order to remain there under medical supervision and receive treatment.
  • The medical officer will discharge you from the hospital or institution once you have been declared free of the communicable disease/infection.

Service standard

A person will remain in the hospital (institution) until he/she is free of the communicable disease/infection that may endanger public health.
