Application for a temporary or special motor vehicle permit

About applying for a temporary or special motor vehicle permit

A temporary motor vehicle permit is valid for twenty-one days and is used for a motor vehicle that is roadworthy. Only one permit is issued per vehicle ownership.

A special motor vehicle permit is valid for three days only and the vehicle cannot carry goods or passengers. There is no limit to the number of permits that can be issued per ownership.

You need a temporary or special motor vehicle permit if you are driving the vehicle to have it registered and or licensed, delivering it to a motor dealer, taking it to or from a place of repairs, reaching an examiner of vehicles or repossessing it from somebody else.
