If you have lost your citizenship as a result of formally or voluntarily acquiring the citizen of another country before 6 October 1995, you may apply to be exempted from loss of citizenship.
You must apply at your nearest Department of Home Affairs offices, South African embassy or mission if you are abroad.

What you should do
- Go to your nearest Department of Home Affairs offices, South African embassy or mission if you are abroad.
- Complete forms: DHA-1666 and DHA-529
- Submit the following:
