Download the application form under forms to complete and fill it in. Your
application must be accompanied by a sample consisting of at least 750ml of the
product you want to import.
Submit the
application form and the sample to the office of the Division Liquor Products
by post at: Private Bag X5015, Stellenbosch 7599 or hand deliver it to Plant Quarantine
Station, FSQA, Polkadraai Road, Stellenbosch.
If you want to import liquor in bottles, you must submit a
sample packaged in an original bottle which will be used when selling. The
label on the bottle will be evaluated to ensure it complies with the requirements
of the Liquor Products Act, 1989.
If
you are importing liquor in bulk, you must submit a sample in an ordinary 750ml
bottle. The bottle does not have be the original bottle that will be used for
sale because only the content of the liquor will be evaluated. Pay the
prescribed fee (in cash only).
Before
you import liquor products into South Africa, you must give 48 hours notice to
the Division Quality Audit.
When you
get to the port of entry, you must apply for permission to remove the
liquor from the port of entry to where you want to sell it in South
Africa.
Analysis of Import
sample: R426 plus separate analysis fee as per analysis performed (fees
indicated under general liquor analysis).
In the case of a
product imported as bona fide trade samples or for purposes other than the sale
thereof (Reg. 43(2)(c), 44(1) and 45(1): R24,50 per liter or a portion
thereof.
