About registering Group 2 fertilizer
To manufacture, or sell Group 2 fertilizer, you must register with the Registrar of Act 36 of 1947. Group 2 fertilizers contain less than 100g /kg of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) or potassium (K) as main ingredients. They are also known as organic fertilizers.
You must be a South African citizen or a juristic person with an office in South Africa to qualify.
If the fertilizer you want to register is already registered by another person, you must get written permission from that individual before registration.
You must send the fertilizer to any accredited laboratory before submitting your application. The laboratory will evaluate and test the fertilizer and give you a certificate. In your application to the Registrar, you must attach the certificate of analysis. The registrar will not accept your application without a certificate of analysis from an accredited laboratory.
Note: You must renew your registration after every three years before the 31st of December.
