An animal identification mark can be transferred from one owner to another livestock owner. To do so, the new owner must apply for the transfer of an animal identification mark at the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
In the case of the death of the legal owner, the identification mark can be transferred to you if the executor of the estate gives permission for the mark to be transferred or in the case of no executor the new owner can provide a copy of the death certificate as well as a “Letters of Authority” issued by the High Court stating that the you are the legal owner of the animals.
