Apply to register as a manufacturer under AGOA

Description

Register as a manufacturer with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to get trade preferences for quota and duty- free entry of certain goods into the United States of America (USA).

The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was designed to benefit African countries by giving them access to US markets.

Steps to follow

  • Download the application form from the website or get it from your nearest SARS Customs and Excise office.
  • Complete the form and submit it to any SARS office.
  • Attach original or certified copies of the following documents:
    • registration certificate of business as issued by the Registrar of Companies or Master of the Supreme Court
    • resolution or consent or other authority if applicable
    • Department of Trade and Industry permit if applicable
    • formulae if applying under rebate item 607.04.10(02), 607.04.10(03), 607.04.10(09) and 607.04.10(12)
    • identity document or, passport of:
      • individuals
      • a close corporation and trust – all members, partners or trustees
      • a company – all directors, including managing director and financial director.
