Labour Department to improve service to workers, says Minister

Labour MinisterYou will soon be able to apply for Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) benefits online. In her Budget Speech delivered on 8 May, Labour Minister, Mildred Oliphant, announced that the UIF will soon launch a Virtual Office, enabling employees with  internet access to apply for UIF services online.

You can use the service to declare your earnings, have your claim processed speedily and track your claim.

The Minister revealed that the UIF has invested R1.5-billion in socially responsible initiatives registered by the IDC, whilst the Compensation Fund invested R1.4 billion. The Compensation Fund's investments total R28 billion with reserves amounting to R15 billion.
