Description

A temporary driver’s licence is a provisional licence issued to qualified drivers who:

  • are waiting for their credit card format licence
  • have applied for the renewal of their licenses or
  • have lost their driver’s licence.

This licence is valid for only six months and can be issued at any driver’s licence testing centre.

Steps to follow

  • Complete form DL1, Application for a driving licence, at any driver’s licence testing centre.
  • Bring the following:
    • identity document (ID) or passport
    • two ID-sized black and white photographs.
  • An eye test will be done before a temporary driver’s licence is issued.
  • Pay the prescribed fee.
