Description
An educator who wishes to teach in South Africa has to register
with the South African Council for Educators (SACE). You cannot be
employed as an educator if you are not registered with SACE.
All foreign qualifications obtained by an educator must be
evaluated by theSouth African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
prior to his or her application for registration.
If your application is successful, SACE will register you as an
educator and issue you with a registration certificate.

Steps to follow
- Apply to register with SACE by completing the relevant
application form
- Submit the following with the application form:

- Certified copies of your professional diploma(s) and/or degree
certificate(s)
- Certified copy of your identity document
- Registration fee
- Non-South African citizens must have the following ready:

An evaluation report from SAQA A work permit stating that they are permitted to teach in
South Africa Proof of permanent residence and non-South African identity
document Proof of employment or pending employment by a school in South
Africa
