Description

This service is intended for the amendment or cancellation of a registration certificate for an old age home.

Who can apply?

People or organisations who previously registered an old age home and want to cancel such registration.

Steps to follow

  • Complete an application form at your nearest Social Development office.
  • Complete the form in the presence of an official from the department.
  • After submitting an application you will be given a receipt and keep it as a proof of your application.
  • The Department will assess your application and inform you about the outcome.
  • If your cancellation is not approved, you will be informed in writing as to why it was unsuccessful.
  • If you disagree with the decision, appeal to the Minister of Social Development or Member of Executive Council (MEC) in writing, explaining why you disagree.
  • Appeal within 90 days of receiving notification about the outcome of your application.

Service standard

  • It may take two weeks or more to process your application.
  • A social worker at your local Social Development office will invite other role players such as health officials and the local government officer to consider your application.
  • The role-players will compile a report based on their findings.
  • The reports are submitted to the local Social Development Office for final approval.
  • The Minister may intervene in your application for cancellation and, depending on the situation, the Court may also intervene.
