Application for registration of a motor vehicle

Description

All motor vehicles operating on South African public roads must be registered. It is the responsibility of the title holder to register the vehicle.

Steps to follow

  • Complete an Application and Notice in respect of Registration and Licensing of a Motor Vehicle at your nearest registering authority.
  • Submit the following documents:
    • your identity document
    • proof of ownership of the vehicle
    • a roadworthy certificate (if the vehicle is used or a Road Transport Quality System vehicle)
    • manufacturer’s certificate or previous registration certificate or affidavit if registration certificate cannot be provided.
